Good morning Dylan,
Gosh not sure what information you really want from me... I started in law enforcement in 1981, starting out as a patrol Deputy, Patrol Supervisor as Corporal, and Sergeant. I have spent over half my career as a criminal investigator/ Detective holding the ranks of Detective Sergeant and then Detective Lieutenant. I investigated or oversaw all major crimes from Homicide to lower level felonies and everything else in between.
Currently I am the appointed Undersheriff of Albany County, which is the perfect way for me to wind down my career. Even though it may be another 6 to 8 years before I decide to hang it up.
I too had/have a strong passion for law enforcement (must have or wouldn't have stayed with it this long). I was only 20 years old when I started.
I have two children who of course are grown and have families of their own, with my son currently in Law enforcement as well.
I guess I have been described before as having a low voice yet people say when I speak people tend to listen. (I have no idea what the heck that means) :)
For the most part I am a calm person and not to much will rattle me. Not to say I don't have my trigger points. HA!
The Investigation of the homicide of Matt was a life changing event for me and many others that were involved. At times it seems as if were just a year ago that it happened and other times it feels like many decades ago.
So much occurs in our career, you take on one thing at a time as best as possible and move forward to the next. I have personally investigated 16 homicides as lead investigator and it is important for people to know that each homicide is a horrible thing for not only the victim but their families as well. The families of the suspect are usually affected as well. They certainly didn't want their family member doing such a thing either.
To murder Matt simply because he was a homosexual was outrageous and I will stand by that until the day I die. The two that killed him are now in a place that they cannot escape the memories of that night. And they will die in prison as well.
Dylan, I have to run for now but if I can help you with anything else please feel free to email me.
Good luck on the production and enjoy it,
Rob DeBree

Hello Mr. Debree,
I am doing the Laramie Project this year for my school drama and I was casted as you in the show. I have a strong passion for law enforcement and hope to pursue it as a career. This is just a little about me, but I really want to know some things about you. I have read through the script and many of the things you said really were moving, and I really wanted to do justice to you by being you to the best of my capabilities. If you could just tell me a little about you and somethings I could do to be like you I'd really appreciate it.
